As everyone reposts more from Clay Shirky.. the bakery story is bologna. The bakery in question had an issue with copyright. The government does not crack down on fair use derivative works. So if a child draws their favorite character and a bakery printed it on the cake. No one is suing them. If the bakery makes money off Dora the Explorer by advertising it and creating direct from a Dora image without a license (not a child’s drawing of Dora for the child’s own cake) ..yes the bakery needs to give Dora’s creators a license %.. because it is not the cake that is making that sale… It’s Dora.
If we are going to get the friggin’ laws right to protect freedom of speech… we have to remove the people that are spinning reality on BOTH sides. I am sorry but we got SOPA/PIPA because both sides were at fault.
