Discussing with Storycube Hyv - Story/audience flow in a Storycube should have currents that are pulled/driven by arcs and plot points that are pyramidic (even if cross-story makes them infinite in choices) not just elevational.
Jan 31st
With storycubes write/design the structure with much more of a pyramidic structure than just an elevational structure.

Putting out another fire with 3 indie filmmakers. Hard for indie filmmakers to see the difference between charity/panhandling and a business. Give the tools and teach a person to fish rather than handing them fish. At some point they need to understand what they are doing is a career not a hobby.

In the new Internet you will build various posts / cubes of narrative content, art, retail and reality. Different vast variational stories with an idea of how they are the foundational connections of a larger network of experience/story/cognition within a larger cube.

Glad to see Rovio (Peter V and Mikael) using my terminology “the content is the new & eventual final platform / channel” Rovio is buying into the understanding of the power of 1st in retail contracts. As retailers start giving part of their own virtual storage to content (like we have discussed with Marriott, Ikea & Omni) … Watch a massive tidal shift in content on the...

Eiko Ishioka died. One of my heroes in visual medium. Her designs in film and theater represent so much of a goal for me.

IMHO - which in turn undermines the the credibility and architecture of content by creating $$ the bottom line in content architecture.

A certain VC is disagreeing with me (voraciously/angrily) about “first in/first out revenue contracts” because his very successful tech seed VC firm invested in ventures that are not going to be “first in/retail placement.” I’d agree with him if he had not/wasn’t ignoring the basic understanding of the tv model and how his campaign for open has undermined the...

By scattering layers and data of story/image/sound … Reproducing illegal versions be comes next to impossible outside partners.

Release the beast. Pretty good call about the c.a.m.p. this AM.

The structural problems with “breaking the plane” with camera work, AR (& a 360 degree 3D) and emersion levels of story. Learning a lot about how camera work will have to change from trial and error.

Up early trying to put into words the browser, cached files, cloud, offline thing/concerns with long form viewing from synced devices. Got my head in knots since 4am.

Need to sleep. Code stuff is killing me. I describe editing like being locked in a dark room full of knives trying to find the way out. Coding feels about the same to me. I say editors have a little something wrong with their brain that they would enjoy hairline frame adjustment/sync work… I hate it… Fries my brain… just had almost 24 hrs of both…at far too slow of a pace.

Sounds over-top & self-indulgent perhaps, but when I am wearing actor’s hat, as I had to today, feels life comes barreling through a different organ. Different than inception of a story or shaping of it’s organization. Just different. Self indulgent as it is and perhaps should be.

As the train pulls close...
From a semi-dream last night… Might seem silly to some but… A man on a locomotive that he built & borrowed, is shoveling coal into the engine as a handful of people are helping him… as long as he is focused on pushing coal. And he looks like he is going to hit the stations heading to the destination, even if it is slower than most people are happy with… ..but he...

Talking to the kids at all the different schools… The greatest training for building what we/I are/am building now, I got, was in the fact that until I was six years old my parents lived in a house with no children my age in the neighborhood. I had to create worlds and conversations out of the walls and empty rooms.

Just so we keep facts on the table when everyone talks about the entertainment lobby being so huge.. Last year they spent 900 million dollars in the decade. Yeah crazy. Oh…sorry ..almost forgot .. you may also want to hear the internet/technology sector 1.2 billion dollars.(and sitting officers in the White House staff) Let’s keep facts on the table.

Films are like food, you can criticize burgers or caviar all you want, but both bring joy to a lot of people. (& personally I have had more great burgers than I have had great caviar)

As everyone reposts more from Clay Shirky.. the bakery story is bologna. The bakery in question had an issue with copyright. The government does not crack down on fair use derivative works. So if a child draws their favorite character and a bakery printed it on the cake. No one is suing them. If the bakery makes money off Dora the Explorer by advertising it and creating direct from a...

Rarely do I call a single person an idiot… but Julian Sanchez is an idiot.  People are reposting him that obviously have no understanding of the economics of entertainment.. or have ever seen a single signatory contract in their lives.  The massive manipulation of historical relevance and models for what an economic downturn looks like in film and television. (give you a hint…usually...

I work every day with kids and adults teaching them about the new model…how to bring interface into the layback flow of story. How story architecture has to evolve. How production itself has to design the technical infrastructure. They teach me right back. They are the future of the web.  It is about communication structure. #im2bprotean

Funny everyone is saying in app purchases will dominate in 3 years. What they miss is, it’s actually “in content” that will dominate. Even those “in app” purchases will be surrounded by the emotional and appetite power of content.
